We are in search of an experienced Bridge Project Manager to join our Indiana Transportation Team. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated individual who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. Drawing from their relevant experience, the candidate will contribute immediately to a range of new projects involving INDOT, Local Municipalities, and Counties in the initial design stages. Our Midwest Bridge Team is seeking a candidate willing to share their expertise while also embracing opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth in today's evolving global landscape. This role offers the flexibility of GAI's hybrid or remote work schedules, along with a Sign-on Bonus.

Responsibilities:
As the Bridge Project Manager, you will assume responsibility for the entirety of projects, including team management, oversight of sub-consultants, client communication, and monitoring project finances. You will engage in the design and preparation of plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, encompassing highway bridges, retaining walls, and prefabricated three-sided and box structures, adhering to AASHTO and INDOT standards. Collaboration with professionals from various departments and disciplines will be essential for addressing project challenges and devising engineering solutions to support our clients' programs. Whether working as part of a team or as a task/project manager, you will operate within project budgets and schedules under moderate supervision.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Preparing scope and fee proposals, Letter-of-Interest proposals, and assisting other Project Managers as needed.
  • Providing leadership and technical guidance to the project team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical services.
  • Enforcing compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact with clients on specific projects.
  • Leveraging existing skills and relationships to contribute to the expansion of our team into new markets.
  • Completing training related to assigned tasks.
  • Participating in occasional site visits at construction sites and outdoor work environments.
  • Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits.
  • Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Approximately 50% of your role will involve project management, with 45% dedicated to technical delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, focusing on scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability. You will oversee small to medium-value projects, typically with a single or dual-discipline focus and a low to medium-risk profile. Managing a small portfolio of projects (typically 3 to 5) with annual billings of up to $500k will be part of your responsibilities. Under the guidance of a PM Coach, you will collaborate with Project Controls staff to analyze ongoing project performance data and develop recovery plans when necessary.

Business Development Responsibilities:
  • Up to 15% of your role may involve Business Development tasks. You may serve as the client contact for projects you manage, with support from a PM Coach. Building and maintaining strong client relationships on existing projects will be crucial. You will work closely with your PM Coach and/or more experienced PMs to coordinate and develop proposed project scopes, schedules, and fees. Additionally, you will assist senior management in contract negotiations with clients.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, with a preference for a Master of Science in Structures.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Indiana.
  • Strong collaboration, oral and written communication, design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with INDOT standards, specifications, design manuals, and deliverables for Federally Funded Projects.
  • Experience in delivering projects for Local Public Agencies.
  • Experience in project or task management, with proficiency in structural analysis and design software for bridge design (e.g., LEAP Concrete, MDX, Midas, AASHTOWare, or similar).
  • Proficiency in CADD, with a preference for experience in MicroStation.
  • Desire for bridge inspection experience or participation in bridge inspection services.
  • A minimum of 8 years of engineering or technical experience, including at least 2 years serving as a Task or Project Manager, preferably in an engineering consulting or similar professional services firm.
  • Demonstrated track record of engaging external customers and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
