Responsibilities

As a Biotech Patent Agent, you will be responsible for:

1. Preparing and prosecuting patent applications related to biotechnological inventions.
2. Conducting prior art searches and analyzing patentability of inventions.
3. Providing legal advice and guidance on patent-related matters.
4. Collaborating with scientists and engineers to understand and evaluate new inventions.
5. Drafting and negotiating agreements related to intellectual property rights.
6. Representing the organization in PTAB post-grant proceedings.
7. Assisting with the management of our intellectual property portfolio.
8. Keeping abreast of changes in patent laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
9. Advising on trademark issues related to biotechnological products.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Biotech Patent Agent position should have:

1. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Patent Agent, with at least 5 years of experience in chemical or biotech prosecution.
2. A strong background in biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field.
3. Admission to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
4. Proven experience in patent prosecution, trademark, and legal writing.
5. Familiarity with PTAB post-grant proceedings.
6. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. A high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
10. The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
