Backend Engineer

Based in New York, we are on the hunt for a dynamic and innovative Solutions Engineer / Backend to join our fast-growing team in the technology industry. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in backend development, with a passion for solving complex technical challenges. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our backend systems, ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend systems.
2. Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
3. Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
5. Work closely with the DevOps team to automate and streamline our operations and processes.
6. Use Elasticsearch to search, analyze, and visualize data in real-time.
7. Develop and maintain data models, database schemas, data structures, and procedures.
8. Leverage Linux environment for software application needs.
9. Use PostgreSQL to ensure data remains consistent across the database.
10. Write and maintain Python scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
11. Utilize Bash scripting for various tasks such as file manipulation, program execution, and printing text.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven backend development experience of 3+ years.
3. Strong experience with DevOps, Elasticsearch, Linux, PostgreSQL, Python, and Bash.
4. Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
5. Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
6. Knowledge of concurrency patterns.
7. Experience with popular web application frameworks.
8. Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases and their declarative query languages.
9. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
10. Familiarity with continuous integration.
11. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
12. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
13. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
