We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate Attorney to join our esteemed legal team. This is a hybrid role that offers the flexibility of working from home and in-office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IP/patent litigation, biotechnology, and a USPTO registration. As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for providing legal advice on a broad range of intellectual property issues to our clients. This role requires a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the legal industry, with a focus on intellectual property law. Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Manage and oversee the prosecution of patent applications at USPTO.
  • Conduct IP due diligence in connection with business transactions and investments.
  • Draft and negotiate intellectual property agreements, including licensing agreements, confidentiality agreements, and technology transfer agreements.
  • Handle IP/patent litigations, including preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and representing clients in court.
  • Collaborate with scientific and business teams to understand and protect the company’s intellectual property rights.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in intellectual property law and advise clients accordingly.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A PhD in Biotechnology or a related field is preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in Illinois and registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on IP/patent litigation.
  • Proven experience in managing patent portfolios and IP due diligence.
  • Strong knowledge of USPTO procedures and guidelines.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve complex legal issues.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools and software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
