Assistant Controller

We are actively searching for a Assistant Controller in the Healthcare industry to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial health of our organization by creating financial strategies, producing financial reports, and directing various financial activities. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and other finance team members to drive financial operations and strategies.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability, and accuracy.
2. Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
3. Conduct monthly financial review meetings with business managers.
4. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
5. Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Charitable Status, Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax.
6. Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit with the approved external auditor.
7. Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
8. Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
9. Oversee the bookkeeping function including the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
10. Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
• Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
