Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the Automotive industry. This role will be instrumental in managing the financial health of our organization, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing leadership in financial planning and business strategy. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax, as well as demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to continuous process improvement.

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Manage the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability, and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
• Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate the budget process, collect the inputs, and compare the company's actual performance with the budget model.
• Oversee the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of wages, benefits, and taxes.
• Calculate commissions and handle the financial aspects of the auto dealership.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reporting, including variance and margin analysis.
• Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
• Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
• Collaborate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
• Drive process improvements for more efficient and streamlined accounting processes.
• Participate in strategic planning, fraud prevention, and budget development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree or professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting leadership role, preferably in the Automotive industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with a software system.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting, required.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and tax preparation.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
• Knowledge of business strategy, process improvement, and managerial finance.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
