We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the Finance industry. This role will offer you the opportunity to demonstrate your exceptional skills and expertise in financial management, accounting, and business operations. You will be part of a team that is responsible for managing the financial health of our company, ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing rent, owner distributions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, forecasting, accounting, CAM recs, common area, and property.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the finance industry.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to direct and supervise.
  • Strong experience with rent, owner distributions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, forecasting, accounting, CAM recs, common area, and property.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and accounting software.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage a team.
  • Ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms.
  • Excellent understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.
