We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and dedicated individual to fill the role of a Permanent Accounting Supervisor. This position is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in finance to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will oversee and manage the daily operations of our accounting department. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our company, ensuring compliance with the law, and accurate and timely reporting of our financial performance.

Responsibilities

As an Accounting Supervisor, your primary duties will include:

1. Supervising and managing the accounting department functions including employee work schedules, work allocation, and performance appraisals.
2. Ensuring that all financial operations comply with federal and state laws.
3. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
4. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
5. Supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
6. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
7. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
8. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
9. Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
10. Working closely with management or executive teams to share reports and analysis findings.
11. Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Accounting Supervisor role will have:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
3. Proven experience as an Accounting Supervisor or a similar role in the Finance industry.
4. Strong working knowledge of Desktop QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, general ledger functions, and the month-end/year-end close process.
5. Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and Zoho.
6. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
7. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
8. Awareness of business trends.
9. Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
10. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
11. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
12. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks efficiently.
14. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
