This is an exciting opportunity to join a law firm with a great culture. This position plays a critical role in the financial structure of our firm, providing financial analysis, budgeting, and accounting services to support our team of legal professionals. The successful candidate will have a keen understanding of financial statements, journal entries, budget calculations, statistical analysis, and probability statements. The role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to manage a team of accounting professionals.

Responsibilities:

As Legal Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities.
2. Interpreting financial statements, recording journal entries, and performing statistical analysis.
3. Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
4. Direct and coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
5. Monitor unapplied and trust balances as well as unbilled WIP.
6. Oversee the monthly bank reconciliations process for operating and trust accounts.
7. Ensure billing and collection statements are timely prepared and distributed.
8. Oversee the preparation and approval of all operational invoices and ensure they are sent to accounts payable for payment.
9. Supervise the preparation of all material business reports (like expense reports).
10. Oversee accounting staff and provide guidance, training, and motivation to ensure a productive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Permanent Accounting Manager position should possess the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. A minimum of 4 years of experience as an Accounting Manager in a law firm.
3. Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
4. High attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Ability to direct and supervise.
6. Proficiency in Aderant Expert Software or equivalent.
7. Strong analytical skills and experience with creating financial reports and conducting cost analyses.
8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Ability to work independently, manage large, complex projects, and balance multiple tasks.
10. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
