Job Details

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. This is a permanent position in the finance industry, specifically within the insurance sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry, statutory filings, and statutory reporting.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
2. Ensure the timely and accurate production of financial statements in accordance with statutory requirements.
3. Manage the preparation and submission of all statutory filings and reports.
4. Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance industry regulations and standards.
5. Coordinate with the company's external auditors for the annual audit process.
6. Implement and maintain internal control systems to ensure the accuracy of financial data and protection of the company's assets.
7. Provide leadership and support to the accounting team, including talent development and performance management.
8. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making at the executive level to align financial management with company goals.
9. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
10. Respond to inquiries from the CEO, CFO, and other company-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA is highly desirable.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably within the insurance industry.
3. Proven knowledge and experience with statutory filings and statutory reporting.
4. Strong understanding of insurance industry regulations and standards.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to developing team members.
6. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
7. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial colleagues.
9. Proficient in using financial software and MS Office.
10. Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
